Note Card

A year-round resident of the Ozarks, this large butterfly ranges throughout much of the eastern United States. It frequents open woodlands and forest edges, and nectars on flowers as well as rotting fruit, carrion and tree sap. Caterpillars feed on shrubs and trees such as wild black cherry, willow, poplar and hawthorn.
