This large swallowtail ranges throughout eastern North America, and is a year round resident of the Ozarks. It is an important pollinator of many flowers including native milkweeds, wild black cherry, purple coneflower and other composites. The caterpillars feed on woody plans such as wild black cherry, basswood, spicebush and ash.
