Field of Crystals

Here is a field of native grass and forbs covered in crystal ‘flakes’ wrapped around each stem. Almost every plant in the field is decorated with crystals, like the close-ups in the three photos prior to this one. When this type of ice occurs, one can walk in a field of tiny crystal ‘diamonds’. As it warms up, before they melt, the breezes pick up and I walk among tall grasses still covered in crystalline sparkles but also with floating diamonds in the air all around me. What joys to be found in coldness!
